J. Bergquist Paper Paintings

I work with paper, cutting, tearing, slicing, and layering to create 2-D dimensional images. Get close and see that the texture, depth, light and shadow are developed through the layering, texture and choice of colored paper.

Blue-spotted tree monitor is endemic to Batanta Island and nearby islets – in the area better known as Raja Ampat – located off the northwestern tip of West Papua province. They grow up to one metre and their long tails are prehensile. The unique blue patterns on their black scales could be these lizards’ downfall, as they are in high demand among reptile collectors. Medium: Paper, pastel, charcoal, and gel medium on Canvas. 9" x 12"
