J. Bergquist Paper Paintings

I work with paper, cutting, tearing, slicing, and layering to create 2-D dimensional images. Get close and see that the texture, depth, light and shadow are developed through the layering, texture and choice of colored paper.

Pangolins are an endangered species and the most trafficked mammals in the world, and the Chinese pangolin may be the most endangered of them all. The species is heavily hunted both within China, and its other range states, for its meat, which is considered a delicacy, as well as for its skin and scales which are used in traditional medicine. Only truly scaly mammal in the world. Related more to cats and bears then to anteater. Usually only one offspring is born to the Chinese pangolin. Medium: Paper, gel medium on Canvas. 9" x 12"
