J. Bergquist Paper Paintings

I work with paper, cutting, tearing, slicing, and layering to create 2-D dimensional images. Get close and see that the texture, depth, light and shadow are developed through the layering, texture and choice of colored paper.

Amur Leopard

Most endangered species there fewer than 60 in 2018. Amur leopards are found in the Russian Far East. Amur River, a natural boundary between China and Russia. They are the only leopard subspecies adapted to survive in both extreme snowy winter and hot summer climates. Several factors contribute to the endangerment of the amur leopard, including habitat destruction, human conflict, poaching, small population size and lack of genetic variation. It is estimated there are approximately 30 to 40 Amur leopards remaining. Medium: Paper, gel medium on canvas. 9" x 12"
